(From the Stanstead College yearbook)
Some years, the golf season is lopsided with one team running away with everything, but this year was. in fact, the opposite, and we faced very stiff competition. Case in point: although we won the first tournament, we actually won it by what is called retrogression (a tie-breaker) as we had tied with Galt. At the second tournament, we won by 5 strokes - still a very close margin_ We came second by 9 strokes at the third tournament, thus were down four strokes going into the finals. As the golf season is cumulative. all scores count all season long. Unfortunately, home course advantage did not pan out for us in the championship tournament, as we finished second overall to Alexander Galt. Nonetheless, it was a solid season on many levels. We had good fun learning and competing. We had fun at team suppers, having Timmy's in the van on the way to tournaments, putting contests, chipping contests and long-drive contests - basically at every opportunity we had fun.
