(From the Stanstead College yearbook)
This year we had 63 players over five teams: the Expos, Royals, Blue Jays, Cardinals, and Athletics. This was 17 more players than we had last year. For the first time in several years, we needed more than four teams. Mr. Philip and I enjoyed the group we had this year. We had students who had never played softball before, returning students from last year and others who play softball outside of school. What I enjoy the most about coaching softball is watching more experienced players coaching the less experienced players.
We would like to thank the captains, Andrew, Oscar, Auston, Henry, Marianne, Hugo, Marie-Ange, Tania, Nicolas Pokora and Nicholas Salamon, for their work this season. Without them things would not have ran as smoothly as they did. Secondly, we would like to thank all the players for not complaining too much about running when it was raining, which we did a lot of this season. Thirdly, we would like to thank Alta for keeping control of the softball box, and to the players for returning the equipment without too much hassle. Lastly, we would like to thank the maintenance crew for lining the field on several occasions.
During the regular season, the teams played between 10 and 11 games. In 5th place, we have the Expos, with 1 win and 10 losses. In 4th place, we have the Royals, with 3 wins and 8 losses. In 3rd place, we have the Blue Jays, with 5 wins and 5 losses. In 2nd place, we have the Cardinals, with 7 wins and 4 losses. In first place, we have the Athletics with 11 wins and 0 losses. This year the standings changed after the playoffs. Congratulations to the Blue Jays for winning their game against the Cardinals, putting them in 2nd place. Congratulations to the Athletics for defending their first-place standing. This year we had 10 homerun hitters. We would like to congratulate Hugo Lecavalier, Nicolas Pokora and Nicholas Salamon for being the top 3 homerun leaders, as well as Alexandrea Gray for being the only girl with homeruns.
