Another great season for the Stanstead College swim team. Athletes, both returning and new to the team, exceeded all of their coach's expectations. During the regular season, every single swimmer finished first in at least one race, not to mention the incredible success of the relay teams. The senior girls relay team (made up of one senior girl and three students from Grade 9) managed an impressive first-place finish during the season. During the finals, where every member of the team swam at least four races, every single swimmer won ribbons and Stanstead College earned, by far, the highest point-per-swimmer average, more than double that of the team who took home the banner. Congratulations on a great season, team!

This week’s Athlete of the Week embodies what it means to be humble in victory. You will never hear him brag about having won all four of the swimming races he competed in last Friday at the ETIAC meet held at Université de Sherbrooke.
Nor will he boast about the fact that in the 100-metre breast stroke (a race that took him only 1 minute and 26 seconds to complete) he finished ahead of the second place swimmer by an unheard of 14 seconds. In fact, when asked about his victories, Keita would only respond with a small smile and a “Well, that’s nice.”
Although he is not willing to brag about his success, his coaches are more than happy to do so for him. Congratulations, Keita – you have definitely earned this week’s Athlete of the Week!
