(From the Stanstead College yearbook)
Since returning to the slate of spring sports at Stanstead College one year ago, the track and field team continued to move the bar higher in terms of participation, success and array of events in 2019. This year saw the team travelling to four different events. Our season opened with a visit to North Country Union High School in Newport. VT where many of our team participated in their first track races. Our second event was to the Kimball Union Academy Invitational event where Stanstead College finished first overall in the girls events and second in the boys events. Our third race saw us travelling to the South Shore Interscholastic Athletic Association held at Heritage High School. Despite terrible conditions. our runners were able to bring home several medals in both the short and long distance events. Our final meet was the RSEO regional track and field meet at the University of Sherbrooke. This event was significant for two reasons. Firstly, it was the only event where we competed in field events (javelin, shot put and discus) and where we finished second overall in juvenile girls and third overall in juvenile boys. This was quite an achievement considering we only had 9 girls and 4 boys participating. We are already planning for the 2020 season and with many of our competitors returning the expectations are high for our third season.
