The cross country running team was made up from a wide variety of athletes, ones who have been running for years with tons of experience, some who have some basic knowledge, and those who decided to try it for the first time Many were worried that they could not run the race distance required. it was explained to everyone that it didn't matter if you can run your race distance now, we will work on it, and all I am asking for is improvement and effort. As the season progressed, we worked on trail runs, hill sprints, short distance sprints, longer distance runs, body weight movements and, everyone's favourite, intervals! The runners had to pretty much put up with anything and deal with it. Overall, after a ton of hard work effort, heart and ability, the team came in second overall in the league, which is fantastic! Award winners included Kanon Kosugi at the bantam level, Rihito Hamano at the junior level and at the senior level, Dante Pellegrino and Allysa Shimada. The Sportsmanship trophy was awarded to Fred Migneault. The William Greenshields Memorial Trophy for Excellence as well as a Major S were awarded to Rosemarie Ladouceur. Some particular thank you's go out to Ba Nam for taking attendance, Fred for leading stretching sessions at the beginning of practice, and my co-coach Mr. Bryant for being a great support for all. The biggest thank you goes out to all the runners for coming to practice with an open mind and a willingness to improve. Those who honestly put in the work, needless to say. saw a genuine improvement, which if you remember, was all I asked for in the beginning. So good on you and congratulations on a great season.

Athlete of the week: Rosemarie Ladouceur
Last year, an injury kept Rosemarie Ladouceur from being able to compete in cross-country running. This year, she is back as a significant force on the team, putting in the time and extra effort to train and showing up to perform at meets.
The Grade 12 student from Magog earned first place for the senior girls at Massey-Vanier and repeated that at our home meet last week. This past Sunday she earned third place at the RSEQ regionals at Lac-Mégantic and is now qualified for the provincials in Chicoutimi. She is the complete runner and she is this week’s Athlete of the Week: Rosemarie Ladouceur.
