It's hard to have a season with only two tournaments in the first two weeks and nothing but practice after that for the six two weeks, nothing to look forward to at the end of the year but practice. We were worried about keeping kids motivated, but thankfully the kids that we had were great and always happy. They came to play and have fun. Thank you and good luck.

Athletes of the week: Shu Shu and Annie Tang
In the most important event of the Badminton season, the Galt Invitational Tournament, Shu Shu and Annie Tang brought their best.
Competing in doubles in the Junior Division, the Grade 9 students from Shanghai and Taipei respectively played eight matches in round-robin play, won 7(!) of them, and then prevailed in a thrilling semi-final match before falling just short in the final. Just as importantly, they won with class -- so much so that they actually gave up points several times during the day rather than argue with their opponents over close line calls. These two young athletes are true sportswomen, have improved throughout the season and are a joy to coach. Wear your silver medals with pride; you have definitely earned them, as well as this week's Athletes of the Week!
